HearAndNow
Chamber music Festival 6/7/8/9 March 2025
About the Festival
HearAndNow sparks curiosity and engages audience in new musical experiences. With an annual chamber music festival located in the highly atmospheric Vondelkerk in Amsterdam, the musicians of HearAndNow are commited to animate their audience by new compelling music written by contemporary composers.
Starting with an innovative composer from the past such as Arnold Schönberg (festival in 2024) and Béla Bartók (festival in 2023), the audience will be taken on a musical exploration.
During the upcoming festival on 6/7/8/9th of March 2025, we will explore the world and music of Richard Strauss. During the festival, we will reveal connections between Strauss as an innovator and his influence on contemporary music. Once again we are looking forwards to welcoming some of today's most promising young musicians and composers. In addition to the return of Festival favorites such as cellist Rainer Crosett, we look forward to introduce new artists like conductor and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and violinist Shannon Lee, prize winner of the Queen Elizabeth Competition. On March 7th, the concert will take place in the Organ park, where amongst others, Laurens de Man will be both playing piano and showcasing the organ. He recently won the 'Nederlandse Muziek Prijs' for organ.
Together with all the HearAndNow musicians, we will be presenting the most adventurous programs in which we challenge the accepted boundaries within classical music. Think of surprising arrangements with unlikely ensemble formations, a classical string quartet setup in combination with percussion and of course many inspiring new works by contemporary composers, both Dutch and international.
